Electronic Schematic Design Files?

Compliment: We have purchased and are using a Wandboard Single with very good success hosting an existing Linus application that has seriously outgrown it's original processor and code space. Our intention is to create a specific design variant of the Wanboard to fit in the existing PCB space and footprint of the product that will support the peripherals we use plus 2 new cameras, boot from serial SPY, etc. etc.

Question #1: What electronic design CAD software were the schematics done in (the schematics that appear as PDF in the user documentation) ? I am guessing either OrCAD or Altium ??

Question #2: Can we get access to the original schematic design files with footprints, etc. This would say us a LOT of time having the source design files available, especially having an existing set of component symbols that are already demonstrated to be accurate ??

Thanks in advance. Steve from Portland Oregon :)

There are different types of software products that can be used for the electronic design like circuit maker, Proteus, OrCad, Multisim etc and there is a one way to convert the electronic schematics into the PDF like you can give the print command for the schematic, not really print the document, it will automatically convert the schematics into the PDF and then you can save that file in PDF format.

We are purcheasing a WandBoard to evaluate iMX6DL. If the perfomaces are ok we plan to develop a board that includes Wand iMX6 module and some other peripherals and connectors. Due to implementation requirements we should embed wanda core in the same PCB used for peripherals and connectors. More or less as Steve's task.
The questions are:
a) Is the PCB database available? What format is it (Altium, Orcad, ...)?
b) Is it the original schematic available? What format is it (Altium, Orcad, ...)?
c) If available, how we can get the files?

My company would like to use a Wandboard-based design (probably the dual) in some of our products. However, the Wandboard as-is is not the best fit for our use in some ways. We would need to make the following modifications:

1. Eliminate or hardware-disable Bluetooth and Wifi chips.
2. Build the whole thing with industrial temperature or automotive grade components.
3. Possibly exchange some of the standard IOs on the EDM connector for a third UART port. We would not be using the GPMI or the AUD5 interfaces, so those look to be likely ones to reassign.

Are the schematic and PCB design files available? If not, can my company license them? Whom do I talk to about this?

thanks,

Hugh Gibbons

I have the same question as these previous folks. Any answer? Ideally, I would like to have the project files for Altium Designer.

Thanks,

Steve, it is not easy for people to distribute PCB design and layout files like that because there is a certain amount of resources and effort that goes beyond it. If it is something that has to be distributed freely, that would nullify their efforts and WandBoard designers wouldn’t be very happy seeing their designs being distributed like this. I have seen this question on a lot of forums and this needs to be answered upfront.

I'm asking the same question ... if this is "Open" lets have the schematic files ...
Wandboard.org cannot have it both ways - either it's Open or it's not .... pdf schematics do not qualify as Open ....

Agreed with cadrjr. Is this an open project or not?

Providing schematics but not the layout files is kind of form of teasing. It's kind of saying: you can use our design but you got to work for it. Seriously, can you provide access to the layout files?

Thank you,
Art

Same question from my side .... would it be possible to have access to schematic design and pcb design files for wandboard?
We have already gone a long way developing software based on the wandboard and would like to accelerate the time-to-market by simplifying the hardware design process.
Thank you in advance for your collaboration!

The documentation files all seem to have broken links on the documentation page. Also, can we get a layout file, please?
