Wandboard dual not working seems hardware issue

Postby kirjony » Mon Dec 01, 2014 9:14 am

Hi all,

Some months back i have ordered wandboard dual from Tenettech techtronics, Bangalore.
Once i received the board i could not verify it as i was busy with my office hectic work.
Recently i got free for sometime and wanted to work on Wandboard.

So downloaded Android 4.1.2 and 4.4.2 images for wandboard dual and flashed the images on my 8GB SD Card using Win32diskimager utility.
After inserting the SD card into the board i could not see anything displayed on my VGA monitor which is connected through a HDMI to VGA connector.

Also i could not see any logs over serial port too atleast if there is any issue with display driver or configuration.

So sent my Wandboard dual to tenettech and even they are not able to see it booting.
They are saying it may be an issue with Wandboard hardware.

So please suggest someone what can i do in this situation or whom can i contact to rectify this.
Or any steps to suggest the verification of Wandboard hardware.

Did you go through the troubleshooting steps in the getting started thread?

Also "through a HDMI to VGA connector" sounds like a failure -- the iMX6 HDMI driver is very picky. It pretty much requires a real HDMI monitor with proper EDID.

Tapani assume HDMI is the issue but atleast i should see the logs on serial port right.

Iam not seeing the serial logs.

Yes, you should see it booting on the debug console.
But there can be other reasons for you not seeing them:
- your cable a null modem or a gender changer?
- your baud rate right? (should be 115200)
- other settings correct? (no flow control etc)

Check the sticky post about trouble shooting in the getting started forum.

I verified my serial cable with loopback test.
If there is any baudrate issue atleast i should see some junk characters. Iam not seeing that.

I verified everything from my side.
Even tenettech who is a distributor of Wandboard and said that there may be a hardware issue.

How can i rectify that ?
