Interface a third party with Wandboard

Postby onemanarmy » Fri Mar 24, 2017 8:31 am

Hi everyone,

Im intending to buy the Wandboard for a specific application.
What Im trying to achieve is to interface a gesture control device ( Microchip Hillstar MGC3130) to control a GUI after building it with Yocto and display it on an LCD .
My question is: is it possible to connect the gesture control device to the Wandboard via USB and control the GUI in real time?

Thank you for answering.

I think we need more specifics here.

The USB connection will likely work, and detect your MGC3130. The driver on the other hand ... no idea.

There are examples of GUI building software that already supports multi-touch gestures (using commodity Windows 10 touch panels) for controlling GUIs running on Wandboards and Yocto. So, yes it is possible. Note however, that multi-touch support for tslib (Linux touch screen driver) is very new. The touch control interface is typically USB 3.0. The example I am most familiar with is Lightwing:
