Errors in New Specifications Chart

Postby ClayMontgomery » Tue Jul 04, 2017 7:15 pm

The specifications chart on the new Wandboard website seems to have incorrect information regarding the graphics. It says:

Solo: Vivante GC320 (2D Composition)
Dual: Vivante GC320 (2D Composition)
Quad: Vivante GC355
QuadPlus: Vivante GC320 (2D Composition)

I think the Quad and QuadPlus should list the GC2000 GPU as well as the GC355.

Thanks, will check that out.

TBH I don't think the exact model number of GPU/VPU matters so much. At least I have not had to concern myself with the differences yet.
(But a spec should be correct!)

If you use OpenGL ES, as my Lightwing application does, then the GC2000 is essential. I can not use the Wandboard Dual because of that. It is important for good Kodi and Qt performance too.

Misunderstood you, thought someone had just fatfingered a model number.
Seems like the GPU model has been kinda excluded from the specs on the new page.

There are 2 problems with the chart.

The new QuadPlus is listed with a GC320 (2D Composition), which must be wrong. I think all of the quad-cores have the better GC355?

The other issue is that the 3D graphics cores are not listed at all, as you said.

That is confusing because this is a key difference between the boards. OpenGL ES apps, like Kodi for example, perform much worse without the GC2000.

What really makes this confusing is that NXP has 2 versions of the dual-core, the DualLite without the GC2000 and there is another dual-core that does have the GC2000, but the Wandboard Dual has only the DualLite version.
