Hi All,
I am trying to boot my Wandboard Quad using Yocto and I generated the minimal image. The following are the images produced.

Shall I directly unzip the rootfs.sdcard.gz file into a sd card and I am able to see that it copies the rootfs, dtb's as well as zImage, , Is this the right way or I need to copy the uboot also on sdacrd . Kindly point the exact way as there are different ways floating around the net. How is the SPL bootloader used? Thanks for reading.

Re: Creating bootable SD card for Wandboard Quad

Some people have reported boot problems with the 4.1 version of Yocto on Wandboards. I recommend starting with the 1.8.2 (Fido) version instead because it is stable.
The sdcard image should be written directly to the sdcard using dd. I do not unzip it, at least when using Fido:

df
sudo umount /dev/sdd1
sudo dd if=tmp/deploy/images/wandboard-quad/lightwing-wandboard-quad.sdcard of=/dev/sdd bs=1M

Thanks Clay, Now I have a image as you told, I am still unable to see anything on my serial port . Should I also put the uboot seperately on the SD card or only the .sdcard image. If yes kindly suggest the partitioning steps ( if its not common.

No extra steps are needed for u-boot or partitioning. If you do not get any output on the debug console, be sure you are using the right type of cable:

Also be sure you have inserted the sdcard into the correct slot:
