Hi cruX,

That's fine...
Do not hesitate to share your work : I will be glad to integrate it (with clear mention about your contribution of course)

Kind regards

Hey Stephan,

I think you got me wrong. It really doesnt work after the first try, the screen just stays off and I can't seem to get it back on on that refresh rate.

I'd send you the addon, but it is really, really dirty (you have to get the refresh rate of the playing video by grepping through the log etc etc.
There is a native way in xbmc to adjust the framerate on playback stop/start, but (and I'm sure you know) that doesn't work on this plattform yet. I'm sadly not familiar enough with this low-level stuff and I can't make a patch to fix that.

I'd be glad if you could look into that!

Cheers!

Edit:
This is for your imx-wip branch, imx-next works fine.

I also have a few files that don't decode via the vpu (switches bag to laggy ffmpeg). The message in xbmc.log log is:
Code: Select all
14:50:11 T:1553986624  NOTICE: Let's decode with iMX VPU
14:50:11 T:1553986624   ERROR: VpuAllocBuffers - Unable alloc 5236744 bytes of physical memory (1).
14:50:11 T:1553986624   ERROR: VpuOpen - iMX VPU open failed (2).

The terminal where I started xbmc prints out the following error
Code: Select all
[ERR]   mem allocation failed!

Theres also a bunch of messages on the serial output (this is from multiple tries)

Here is the output of a mediainfo of one of those files.

Edit:
I have found another issue: If you have high sata/nic load, the video playback gets async :/ I tried to fix that via irqbalance but it didn't work perfectly. I'll have to do some tests (performance governor etc) to see if that fixes the issue.

Also, my black is very dark (I think thats called "black crush"), you mentioned that this would be fixed by setting the framebuffer to 16bpp (which I did, /sys/class/graphics/fb*/bits_per_pixel shows 16).
It would be nice if this could be fixed :/
I tried to fix that error by looking at your uEnv, but it seems like ours is the same... I still have this annoying black-issue though :/

Edit:
I was able to fix the black-crush by digging through the menus of my tv, the rgb colorspace needs to be set to "full range" or something like that.

Hi CruX.
As im an arch user, as well, I would ask you, if you could share some PKGBUILDs for your kernel you are currently running and the GPU/VPU libraries?

I'm using arch as my desktop distributation and on my raspberry as well and would like to run xbmc on my new wbquad.
So using yocto is no altnerative for me (nevertheless thx to stephan for your effort bringing xmbc etc to the imx6 devices).

Hey,

your post finally forced me to commit my PKGBUILDs to my github repo (https://github.com/CrawX/PKGBUILDs) :)
I'm glad to get some feedback (errors...).

As mentioned I'm on #wandboard if you need direct contact.

Cheers!

Hey crux, I guess you forgot to add "linux-wandboard-fsl.install" into core/linux-wandboard-fsl. Makepkg complains about this missing file.

Hey crux i successfully build the following packages so far:

  • firmware-imx
  • gpu-viv-bin-mx6q-fb
  • imx-lib
  • imx-vpu
  • libfslvpuwrap
  • linux-wandboard-fsl
  • linux-wandboard-fsl-headers
  • libcec-imx6

I noticed one packaging problem in the gpu-viv-bin-mx6-* packages.
You are creating these files:
  • libOpenVG_355.so ist in gpu-viv-bin-mx6q-fb 3.10.9_1.0.0-1 enthalten
  • libOpenVG_3D.so ist in gpu-viv-bin-mx6q-fb 3.10.9_1.0.0-1 enthalten
  • libOpenVG.so ist in gpu-viv-bin-mx6q-fb 3.10.9_1.0.0-1 enthalten
The problem is libOpenVG.so seems to be the same like libOpenVG_3D.so, so that ldconfig throws a warning:
ldconfig: /opt/fsl/lib/libOpenVG.so ist kein symbolischer Link

Okay great!

The ldconfig error is not important and I don't really know the difference of those three files.
To fix it, one would have to delete the two irrelevant files and name the other libOpenVG_VERSION.so, ldconfig will then link this to libOpenVG.so.

As I said, it works for me and I have the same warning.

Cheers

Hey crux,

i just tried to build xbmc-imx and get the following error:

Code: Select all
checking for main in -lGLESv2... no
configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the README for your platform.

I dont understand why this error occurs, because
Code: Select all
ls /opt/fsl/lib/libGLESv2.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     18 15. Jan 12:56 /opt/fsl/lib/libGLESv2.so -> libGLESv2.so.2.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     18 15. Jan 12:56 /opt/fsl/lib/libGLESv2.so.2 -> libGLESv2.so.2.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 205420 15. Jan 12:56 /opt/fsl/lib/libGLESv2.so.2.0.0

seems to be correct.

Besides there is the following (unimportant) warning:
Code: Select all
configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --disable-vdadecoder
