Compiling Linux

Postby kylesweet » Thu Jul 13, 2017 3:39 pm

Full disclosure: I've never compiled linux before and I am a dummy. I'm looking for some guidance.

I believe I need to do my own Linux build to support 4 simultaneous video feeds through MIPI and I'm using a MIPI chip that I can't find any examples for. I think the three parts to build are rootfs, kernel, and uboot (+ an SD card image). These two guides contain the best info I have found

https://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/W ... umentation

https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-158531

but neither are perfect. The first doesn't appear to address MIPI at all. The second addresses a different MIPI chip from what I'm using and not a wandboard.

I think MIPI support and any drivers for external MIPI devices need to be built into the kernel. I've poked around the kernal configuration GUI that pops up when I run the ./build_kernel.sh command, but I didn't see anything that looks relevant. How do I compile MIPI support and a driver for example for Texas Instruments DS90UB914A?
