tun module not present in

The Ubuntu 14.04.2 image on the downloads page loads kernel:

3.10.53-1.1.0_ga-wandboard-06034-g13bb184-dirty

This kernel does not have the "tun" module compiled in, meaning one cannot run openvpn.

$ sudo modprobe tun
modprobe: FATAL: Module tun not found.

I have a board a bit older that is running the 14.04.1 image with kernel:

3.10.17.1-wand-armhf.com

This kernel does have the "tun" module:

$ sudo modprobe tun
$

Why has a newer kernel image been compiled without this essential module? Is there another kernel that I can install?

To answer my own question, I forgot that I had built the image from the code on this page: http://www.armhf.com/boards/wandboard/#trusty

That said, it would really be nice to have "tun" compiled into the kernel.
