Yes. I'm looking forward to getting a C1. First order of business will be to get STA mode working, and then see if the existing FW will allow operation as an AP for the BCM4330. If not, we're off to the races to see if we can find something that will work. The current firmware problems we have with the BCM4329 are very inconvenient.

BTW - the 3.14.x kernels (mainline) are not something I'm personally working on. They might be great, but I'm sticking to the latest that Freescale produces (however old) because they will automatically have support for the VPU, GPU, and IPU.

Thats great.

It would be very nice to see if the bcm4330 does support 5ghz ap mode and what the resulting speeds are.

Although it doesn't actually make sense to buy another wandboard, I'd probably think about it :D

Cheers!

The bcm4330 does not support the 5GHz band. :-(

http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wirele ... ns/BCM4330

It includes on-chip 2.4GHz and 5 GHz WLAN power amplifiers that meet the output power requirements for most handheld systems while permitting and an optional external power amplifier for higher output power applications, if required.

Features:

Single-band 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n or dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz 802.11 a/b/g/n

Maybe tapani meant AP mode @5GHz.
At least with the previous versions, this was not possible.

I can work with kernel 3.14.4 with ubuntu 14.04 using AP mode, but failed to us ubuntu 14.04 GUI.
As suggested on the website, install all necessary xserver-xorg kdm etc... but failed to see the graphics login window.

Xorg -configure also failed.
Code: Select all

Today I'm trying kernel 3.14.4 + ubuntu 12.04, first to get AP working, then graphics. Actually, we need QT on X11 and AP connection for our products.
Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Besides, Yocto with AP enabled still can not bitbake.

So I have to try different Ubuntu release and different kernel.

No, I did not mean only AP mode. There are 4330 that support 5GHz, but the one on rev C1 does not support 5GHz.
