How do I change the Bluetooth MAC address

Postby nevmair » Thu Jun 23, 2016 7:28 pm

I have several Wandboard Quads that we want to run android on.

I have downloaded the 5.0.2 wandboard image and burned SD cards.

When we install them in the quads, all the buetooth MAC comes up as the same.
The MAC is "22:22:3E:7E:AE:3C"
Is there a way to change the MAC address that the bluetooth uses from the android interface?

If not, Where is the address stored and how can I change it.

Thanks

This is a good question, and I'll see if I can dig up an answer for you.

In a linux environment, the mac address of interfaces can be (temporarily) changed by either:
Code: Select all
ifconfig eth0 hw ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff

or
Code: Select all
bdaddr -i hci0 aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff

Don't know about Android, guess the same ioctl() should do the trick there too, but is a bit more hassle.

Which Wandboard revision do you have? The WIFI/Bluetooth chips are different, and in case we need to contact the manufacturer it would help to know which chip has this problem.
