[SOLVED] hardware accelerated video (mp4) in chromium?

Postby enzeneer » Wed Nov 19, 2014 3:51 pm

Hello I'm using the dizzy branch and built Chromium. chrome://gpu reports:
Code: Select all
Graphics Feature Status
Canvas: Hardware accelerated
Flash: Hardware accelerated
Flash Stage3D: Hardware accelerated
Flash Stage3D Baseline profile: Hardware accelerated
Compositing: Hardware accelerated
Rasterization: Hardware accelerated
Threaded Rasterization: Enabled
Video Decode: Hardware accelerated
Video Encode: Hardware accelerated
WebGL: Hardware accelerated

But when I try to play an mp4 video, it lags severely, doesn't seem to be using hw decoding. I just open the file on disk using file:// URI.

What could be the reason? gstreamer plays the same video smoothly. How to play the same video in Chromium?

Looks like it might have been an issue with my particular MP4 file. Other files seem to use the GPU and play much better.
