bitbake error: Cannot allocate memory...

Postby edsut » Mon Oct 06, 2014 2:53 pm

I'm trying to follow the steps layed out in the "Getting Started with Yocto on WandBoard" (http://wiki.wandboard.org/index.php/Get ... _Wandboard) page, and running into an error...

Code: Select all
NOTE: Error during finalise of /home/els/wandboard/yocto/fsl-community-bsp/sources/poky/meta/recipes-sato/images/core-image-sato.bb
ERROR: ExpansionError during parsing /home/els/wandboard/yocto/fsl-community-bsp/sources/poky/meta/recipes-sato/images/core-image-sato.bb: Failure expanding variable toolchain_create_sdk_version: ExpansionError: Failure expanding variable METADATA_REVISION, expression was ${@base_detect_revision(d)} which triggered exception OSError: [Errno 12] Cannot allocate memory

My host is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
I've only got 1G of RAM on my host system, so is this actually telling me that it doesn't have enough RAM to continue?

Shoulda just tried this prior to posting the question...
Yes, it was literally out of memory. I added a second 1G DIMM and the bitbake step is doing better.
