Chromium on X11: Xserver getting signal 11 SEGV_MAPERR

Postby shu » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:27 pm

I built an image for a Wandboard Quad (Rev. D1) with Yocto (pyro branch), containing Chromium and X11. Chromium is 52.0.2743.76 from morty-branch (since meta-browser/ doesn't have a pyro-branch), but I only needed to add " gperf-native " to the dependencies to build it sucessfully with "pyro". X11 is version 1.19.1.
I also tried with a complete "morty"-setup, but it had a similar result.
In the resulting image, Chromium starts and works for some Sites, but e.g. Youtube (at least when actually playing a video) leads to an "Xserver getting signal 11 SEGV_MAPERR"-error with the "Aw, Snap!" display in Chromium.
That was actually with HW-acceleration disabled. HW-acceleration enabled lead even to a kernel panic.

Has anyone made a similar experience (and maybe found a solution)?

Also, I tried some checks against prebuilt binaries:

In this image, Chromium is contained, but it does not start.

This contains Firefox. The Firefox freezes on Youtube.com, I couldn't find any entry in journalctl.

http://download.wandboard.org/wandboard ... 151106.zip
This contains Chromium 45 (or so) and Xorg 1.17.2. This image is working with Youtube.

The entries in journalctl (for my pyro-image) are unfortunately not very informative:

Those errors are actually segmentation faults. According to this:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/100 ... egv-maperr

Do those websites play video OK on Ubuntu or Android on the Wandboard?

I am curious to read what you learn about this. Please share!
